Healing and Health (day83/365)

15 02 2010

Over and over again we hear that physical sickness is in large part caused by sickness of thought and emotion. Resentment, guilt, fear, anxiety cause illness. Would you deny or defy that statement? Can you or others you know harbour ill will, grudges, resentment, guilt, fear, anxiety and live in good health?

Norman Vincent Peale in “The Power Of Positive Thinking” suggests we cast out the ill will. Get rid of the grudges without delay. They do no harm to the person you are holding the resentment against, but they eat at you day and night. Your poor health is being caused by whats eating you. Emotional ills sap your energy, reduce your efficiency, and cause a deterioration in your health.

Are you sick of pain in joints and muscles, getting colds, eczema, arthritis, back ache, chest pain, headaches, the list goes on. Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?

Then, here are five steps to healing.

1/ Have complete willingness to surrender to the hand of God.
2/ Completely let go of all error (sin in any form) and desire to be cleansed in the soul.
3/ Have faith and believe in the combined therapy of medical science in harmony with the healing power of God.
4/ Be willing to accept God’s answer, whatever it may be; have no irritation or bitterness against His will.
5/ Have substantial, unquestioning faith that God can heal.

Fill your mind with attitudes of good will, forgiveness, faith and love. Read your bible. Find some helpful verses. Memorise them. Live in freedom.

Does God Heal Today? (day62/365)

25 01 2010

Nicky Gumbel in his book “Questions of Life” talks about the healing that Jesus did as part of the normal activity of the kingdom.

Besides healing many people himself, he also commissioned the 12 disciples, then 72 others, then all his disciples.

Besides many gospel accounts of miraculous healings, the early church writers such as Quadratus, Justin Martyr, Theophilus of Antioch, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Origen confirm that healing formed part of the activity of the early church.

Healing is still very much a part of the modern church. Many Christians have been given the gift of healing. Some simple guidelines for those administering the gift follow :-

Where does it hurt? Find out what and where the problem is.

Why does the person have the condition? Accident, root causes like unforgiveness? Listen!

How do I pray? Ask God to heal in the name of Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to come on the person.

Ask how they are feeling. Keep praying until we feel it is right to stop.

What next? Reassure them of God’s love whether healed or not.

Healing on it’s own is a powerful thing, but when people are brought to repentance and they experience the liberation that forgiveness gives, healing has another brilliant facet.

What a brilliant gift!

Healed vs Not Healed (day 2/365)

26 11 2009

Have you ever wondered why some people are healed instantly at healing/revival/faith meetings or in their local church when others aren’t and some even die?

It’s a question that has been on my mind recently.

Kenneth E. Hagin in his book Love. The Way to Victory may have discovered the answer. It certainly makes sense to me as far as the non healing of some minor ailments I have been suffering from.

My understanding is that when we harbour resentment, bitterness, unforgiveness towards anyone (when we’re not walking in God love) it doesn’t allow the full potential of our faith to resonate through our body, soul and spirit to be able to pick up the gift of healing.

Indeed the said resentment, bitterness, unforgiveness can be the cause of disease and illness.  Think about the last migraine you had. Chances are you were harbouring ill feelings toward someone prior to the onset.

Personally, I know some bad feelings I have had toward someone has caused me to suffer several ailments recently.

So what can it hurt for me to change my attitude, my thoughts, my words, my actions?

I choose love.

I choose forgiveness.

I choose tolerance.

I choose compassion.

I choose health.

How about you?
