Certain things we do will be a positive force in making our bodies want to get thin says Jon Gabriel in “The Gabriel Method”.
Our bodies need to think “Get thin or get eaten” (like running away from bears, dinosaurs etc) in response to today’s pressures.
One way to trick our bodies into thinking like that is through exercise. Not the sort of exercise that concentrates on burning calories. Rather, the sort of exercise where we can include short bursts of very fast activity (8-12 seconds is all that is needed). It may be short fast bursts on a bicycle while riding, some short sprints if running, short fast swims while doing laps. Whatever exercise we normally do, just add these short, fast bursts. It makes our body think we are fleeing from the predator and decides it needs to be thin to be able to get away in the future.
Adrenaline producing activities and rides can make our bodies think the same thing. We can try bungee jumping, parachuting, riding a roller coaster, ferris wheel etc.
Taking a cold shower can also be beneficial in making our brain think it needs to flee.
We can use everyday/office stress to our advantage also. Next time we get stressed, (where possible) we could use the moment to run up a few flights of stairs or take a brisk walk around the block.
Some very interesting material in this book. It combines valuable visualisation techniques with sensible physiological understanding and positive information about food, forgiveness, and living a full life.
