Direction For A Lost World (day50/365)

13 01 2010

You will all need to wait a little longer to hear about “Discovering My Purpose.” In the meantime I thought it was time for a change of pace. We are going to see what Nicky Gumbel has to say in “Questions of Life”, a practical introduction to the Christian faith.

It seems many people over the centuries have realized with nagging perception that something is missing from their lives.

Others have admitted desperation at the void or hole they feel in their lives that they just can’t seem to fill with food, drink, cars, sex, television, drugs, etc.

Many spend their time looking for something that will give their lives meaning and purpose.

One soul at a time, people are coming to realize that we were created to live in a relationship with God. Without that relationship there will always be a hunger, an emptiness, a feeling that something is missing.

When we say yes to the relationship,we accept forgiveness for our shortcomings and hand our guilt over. We become new, fresh, filled, alive beings. This new quality of life goes on to eternity. We can live life and death to the max.

We no longer need to have fear about meaninglessness, fear about death, or fear about guilt. Jesus meets the fears and takes them away.

Learning Humbly (day 19/365)

12 12 2009

As I continue to read “One Month To Live…Thirty Days To A No-Regrets Life” by Kerry & Chris Shook, I am developing a new excitement to live my life the way I know it should be.

Today we are encouraged to consider learning humbly the things we need to know to truly be ourselves.

I think many of us can identify with the age old questions, “Who am I and what is my place, what is my location, my niche, my position in the grand plan of life? Who am I created to be?”

We need to look up to the Source of our creation. We are God’s children; children of the king. Forgetting this vital information, many have missed out on the purpose and meaning of life and have felt lost.

Disasters can have two very different outcomes. We can choose to learn from an experience by asking, “What can I change about that next time?” or “What have I learned from that experience?” or “How could I have dealt with that in a more responsible way?”

The other immature option is to let an experience destroy you.

It’s time we took responsibility for our own growth. It’s not about what happens around us or to us, rather it is about what’s on the inside of us and how we react.

Also when we get real with God and others, when we are being who God created us to be rather than trying to pretend to be someone else, then our distinct beauty emerges.

I hope you’ve learned something today. There are more things to learn from the book. Why not get yourself a copy?

Spiritual and Mental……….. Last Two Wheel Spokes (day 16/365)

10 12 2009

To finish up in “Dare to Win” Mark Victor Hansen cover the topics of spirituality and mentality.

He has learned that “God is rich. He created the universe and all that’s in it. God is infinite. You have God in you, so you have infinite creative possibilities within you.” Spiritual awakening is different for all of us, but for most of us, there will be a high-consciousness experience somewhere in our journey.

A few techniques to help us in this area are:
#1. Say an original hand holding grace over each meal.
#2. Seek to find your spiritual purpose in life.
#3. Develop a spiritual understanding of life and death.
#4. Look for minister/priest/etc to facilitate your spiritual growth.
#5. Do spiritual things. (unselfish, loving things)

Part of strengthening our mind is to find the purpose we are living for. Complete the statement – My purpose in life is to ———- people? Then ask which people? and then – to help them do what?

Knowing why you are here gives direction. Next step is to fill our brains with positive uplifting information to help us achieve our purpose. Reading books and listening to inspirational CD’s develops our brain in the right way to achieve and fulfill our destiny.
Next step is to find a mentor and/or a group of other positive uplifting people who will encourage you as you do them. Share the good stuff and motivate each other.

Bottom line of the book is YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE BY CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT LIFE.

Are you willing to change your thinking to positive, creative and uplifting?

Turn Fears, Problems, Excuses into Goals, Opportunities, Purpose (day 11/365)

5 12 2009

Mark Victor Hansen in Dare to Win” dives right into the midst of our problems. He states fear is the reason we settle for unwanted situations in our life. If we would confront the fears, then we could move on.

When facing problems, we have the opportunity to solve them, if we would only knock the fear out of our way. Have you considered that it may be our purpose to solve a problem and then help others to solve the same problem?

We really have no excuse for not trying to overcome. If Edison took thousands of attempts to invent the lightbulb, then surely I can persevere. The only failure is if I do not try.

It is important that we set goals so our conscious mind knows WHAT it is we are trying to achieve. Our subconscious mind then works out HOW to achieve it.

If we could really be, do and have anything we wanted, what would your choices be? Have you written down your “bucket list” yet? It should include all the things you want to achieve before you leave this earth; places to see, people to meet, charities to support, achievements to attain; who you want to be, what you want to do.

Can you find your purpose?
